Homemade Gift Ideas

Thursday, 12 November 2009 10:15 by Courtney

With Thanksgiving and Christmas right around the corner, that means holiday shopping will also be coming into full swing.  Although your parents probably do most of the holiday shopping, there are some cheaper gift ideas below in case you also participate in gift giving.

  • Homemade peppermint cocoa mix in a decorated jar (Ingredients: 3 (4 1/2-inch) peppermint sticks, 1 cup powdered sugar, 1 cup powdered non-dairy creamer, 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa. Measure all ingredients into a blender, grind until powdery and well blended. Store in decorated jar. Per Mug: 1/4 c. mix, boiling water to fill.)
  • Homemade fleece blanket (Get 2 different patterns of fleece the same size. Cut slits about 2 inches in and 1 inch apart from one another all the way around the edges and then knot each slit to the other piece. It creates a seam with no sewing.)
  • Personal gift certificate (If you have younger siblings, offer your parents a gift certificate that you will watch your siblings so they can have a date night.)
  • Make a mixed CD (Purchase some blank CDs and put your favorite songs on there as gifts for friends.)

Do you have other homemade holiday gift ideas?
