Saving money is hard and saving money out of your budget when the cost of what you have to buy keeps going up is even harder. Sometimes though, it is best to look for many small, incremental changes versus one big change. The one big change is usually not that probable. So, here are a few more ideas to save everyday in a few important areas…
Entertainment
· Use the library for books, DVDs and even music. For purchases, look for used book stores or trade with friends and family.
· Skip the concession stand at the movies and go during matinee times to save a lot of money on going out.
· Review your cable service and make sure you are really using the service options you have in your current subscription.
Eating Out
· Brown bag it for lunch and snacks for workdays, even eating in for half the week could save nearly $100 per month.
· Dine out for lunch instead of dinner and don’t order the beverage instead drink water, both of these options can make eating out less expensive.
· Think about eating at home and then going out just for dessert to make it a special evening.
Around the Home
· Use cloth napkins and plates instead of buying throw away napkins and paper plates.
· Don’t hire work to be done, visit the local hardware store for tips and techniques to make minor home repairs. If you don’t have the tool, ask your neighbor if you can borrow the right tool.
· Keep your house two degrees warmer in the summer and two degrees cooler in the winter to shave a few dollars of the heating and cooling bills.
These are just a few everyday ways to save that might not be that difficult to make part of your lifestyle and don’t require a big change on your part.
